Aby Cheruvathoor Poulose
Dr. Aby Cheruvathoor Poulose is a senior researcher at the Materials-Envi Lab (MELab), Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET), VSB–Technical University of Ostrava, and at the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN), Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and advanced characterization of functional nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. He develops semiconducting nanocrystals, graphene-based nanocomposites, and hybrid nanostructures with tailored optical, electronic, and catalytic properties, with particular emphasis on plasmon-enhanced and heterogeneous photocatalysis, sustainable energy conversion, and related nanoscale technologies.
He earned his PhD from Tokyo University, Japan, and is a recipient of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship and the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship. His research experience spans India, Japan, Austria, and the Czech Republic, complemented by earlier industrial experience at JEOL as a Senior Application Specialist, supporting advanced electron microscopy and surface-analysis techniques and delivering application training and workshops for academic researchers and professors. He has authored 50 peer-reviewed publications and holds two patents; his work has appeared in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, ChemSusChem, Theranostics, Nanoscale, Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, and others.
