Sergii Kalytchuk

Dr. Sergii Kalytchuk received his Ph.D. degree in solid-state physics from V. Lashkaryov Institute of Semiconductor Physics, NAS of Ukraine, in 2011. In 2012, Sergii became a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Physics and Materials Science under the supervision of Prof. Andrey Rogach at City University of Hong Kong, dedicating 2 years to the exploration of quantum dots for light-emitting devices, photovoltaics, and sensing. Since 2014, Sergii has been a dedicated researcher in the Carbon Group at Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) at Palacký University Olomouc. He is also a part of the innovative Materials-Envi lab (MEL) at the Technical University of Ostrava. Dr. Kalytchuk is the author and a co-author of over 65 scientific publications, including in prestigious journals such as Adv. Funct. Mater., Nature Commun., ACS Nano, Small, and Carbon, with more than 4,000 citations and h-index of 30 (Scopus). In 2024, he was awarded a prestigious Czech Science Foundation project as a principal investigator.

Sergii’s research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of fluorescent carbon-based nanoparticles, with application areas such as sensing, light-emitting devices, photovoltaics, photocatalysis, anticounterfeiting, and more.
