Dr. Seung Yeop Yi is originally from South Korea, where he completed his master’s studies at Korea University and later earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from KAIST. His doctoral work under Prof. Jinwoo Lee focused on the rational design of electrocatalysts through geometric and electronic structure modulation for use in low-temperature energy conversion devices, including fuel cells and water electrolyzers.

His research spans carbon-based single-atom catalysts, metal and oxide nanostructures, and alloy systems. Beyond electrocatalysis, he has also contributed to battery electrode development and investigated single-atom-based nanozymes for cancer therapy and chemical sensing.

He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, where he designs and studies novel catalytic architectures for diverse electrocatalytic reactions, emphasizing electronic structure tuning and interfacial environment engineering to enhance reaction kinetics and durability.
