Sourav Kumar

Dr. Sourav Kumar was born in Pathankot, Punjab, India, and received his master’s degree (M.Sc. Hons. School) Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India. He earned his Ph.D. (2025) in Chemical Sciences from the CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India. He was awarded the prestigious CSIR Junior and Senior Research Fellowships (JRF/SRF) by the Government of India to pursue his doctoral research. His doctoral research centered on photocatalytic exploration of divergent reactivity of alkynes for generating reactive radical intermediates to construct C-C and C-X bonds. He also specializes in the late-stage functionalization of drugs and natural products, enabling structural diversification and optimization for drug discovery and development. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and contributed to an invited book chapter.
Currently, Dr. Kumar is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the MEL Group at the Nanotechnology Centre, CEET, VSB–Technical University of Ostrava. His current research focuses on the development of single-atom photocatalysts and functional materials for hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) processes under visible light. He also involved in designs porous frameworks, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), for applications in sustainable photocatalysis. His work integrates material innovation with radical chemistry to enable green and efficient molecular transformations.
