Dr. Yazhou Zhou (ORCID 0000-0002-0446-2291), Group Leader & Senior Researcher, VSB-TUO, CEET, MELab, Ostrava, Czech Republic, and Senior Postdoc, Max-Planck-Institute fo Polymer Research (MPI-P), Mainz, Germany.

Dr. Zhou is a highly accomplished researcher and leader in the field of materials science and electrocatalysis. He is currently leading a dynamic research division in electrocatalysis at MELab in Ostrava, Czech Republic, while continuing his senior postdoctoral work at the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. Dr. Zhou completed his PhD in 2015 under the mentorship of Prof. Xiaonong Cheng in Jiangsu University, China and Prof. Yuehe Lin at Washington State University (WSU), USA.

His expertise lies in the development of heterogeneous catalysts, particularly single-atom catalysts (SACs), and their application in critical areas such as energy storage, CO2 conversion, and environmental sustainability. Dr. Zhou’s group focuses on designing and precisely synthesizing SACs, understanding the relationship between atomic structure and catalytic activity, and exploring innovative applications such as hydrogen energy (including water splitting and fuel cells) and the conversion of CO2 into valuable products like ethanol, acetylene, and propanol.

Dr. Zhou’s pioneering work has led to over 80 peer-reviewed publications, with a h-index of 32 and more than 3000 citations. His research has been published in high-impact journals such as Nature Communications, JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, and Advanced Functional Materals. He has successfully secured multiple prestigious grants, including from the Horizon, DFG, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has supervised numerous students and postdocs, helping them achieve top-rated publications and significant career advancements.

As a group leader, Dr. Zhou fosters a collaborative and innovative research environment that encourages creative thinking and cutting-edge discovery. He is always open to motivated and talented individuals who are passionate about advancing sustainable energy solutions and tackling global challenges like climate change and energy crises.
