Aristeidis Bakandritsos

Dr. Aristeidis Bakandritsos (ORCID 0000-0003-4411-9348) is a group leader and senior researcher at CATRIN-RCPTM, Palacký University Olomouc and VSB-TUO, CEET, MELab in Ostrava, Czech Republic. He received his Ph.D. in 2006 in chemistry from the NKUA & N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” in Athens. He has more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, h-index 39, and >6000 citations (Scopus). His research interests involve the development of functional nanomaterials and their application in energy storage, catalysis, environment and biomedicine.

He has a successful international professional profile as an Assistant Professor in the Dpt. of Materials Science, Univ. of Patras, Greece, where he established a lab and supervised students leading to prestigious publications related to surface functionalization of nanomaterials. In 2008 he worked for a period at Cornell University in the group of Prof. Em. Giannelis. In 2016, he moved to RCPTM where he currently leads a research division and since 2019 he also received a senior researcher position in VSB-TUO, in MELab.

In the last eight years, he supervised research projects leading to top-rated publications in journals like Nat. Nanotech., Nat. Commun., ACS Nano, Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Env. Sci. and others. He supervises the work of several post-doctoral researchers and he is the coordinator or supervisor of several HORIZON, MSCA and national grants.
