Dr. Rajib Maity was born and brought up in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry (Hons.) from Vidyasagar University in 2014, followed by anM.Sc. degree in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) from Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya in 2016. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB)/University of Calcutta in 2023. He has qualified the CSIR-UGC NET-JRFandGATEexaminations in Chemical Sciences.
Following his Ph.D., he served as a Research Associate under the supervision of Prof. Biplab Maji at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata from April 2023 to April 2026, where he independently led an ANRF-funded research project entitled “Development of Selective Fluorination Strategies via Visible-Light-Photoredox Catalysis and Electrocatalysis Towards Late-Stage Diversifications of Drug Molecules.”
He has authored 14 peer-reviewed research publications, including 9 as first author, in international journals such as JACS, Green Chemistry, ChemSusChem, Organic Letters, and Advanced Synthesis & Catalysis. His research expertise encompasses organic synthesis, photoredox catalysis, electrophotocatalysis, electroorganic synthesis, radical chemistry, and cascade cyclization reactions.
Dr. Rajib Maity is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the MEL group at the Nanotechnology Centre, CEET, VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. His current research focuses on the design and development of single-atom photocatalysts for complex organic synthesis.
