Shounik Paul
Shounik Paul was born and brought up in Kolkata, India where he obtained his B. Sc. degree in Chemistry from University of Calcutta in the year 2011. He completed his M. Sc. degree from Presidency University in 2013, specializing in the field of Inorganic Chemistry. His master’s research was focused on development of hybrid materials for supercapacitor applications. Following his passion of understanding of Inorganic materials he started his research in the field of Polyoxometalates chemistry. Not only he gained knowledge of its solid-state structures and properties but also studied its colloidal phases and different factors pertaining to the phase transition of oxometalates colloids to polyoxometalates. This led to development of different colloidal oxometalates systems which show UV photoactivity and powered reactions like CO2 reduction coupled with water oxidation. On similar traits he studied downsizing of the metal oxocluster in the form of MOFs and lastly heterogenized molecular metallocorrole systems in reactions like CO2RR. With all this experiences he obtained his Ph. D. degree in the field of Chemical Sciences from IISER Kolkata in 2022. Currently he is a postdoctoral fellow in the VSB-TUO, and his research interest lies in development of single atom catalysts based on polyoxometalates for CO2RR and NO3-RR.
