David Panáček obtained his PhD in physical chemistry from Palacký University in Olomouc in 2022. During his doctoral studies, he undertook an internship supported by the Graphene Flagship initiative at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Barcelona under the supervision of Professor Arben Merkoçi, where he worked on the development of electrochemical biosensors. He subsequently worked as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London in Professor Firat Güder’s group, where he focused on the development of graphene-based sensor technologies for plant monitoring and agricultural applications.
Since 2026, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at Materials-Envi Lab, VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava. His research focuses on the design of low-dimensional carbon materials, particularly graphene derivatives, and their application in sensor technology, biomedicine and environmental technologies. In his work, he combines materials chemistry, sensor technology and printing technologies with the aim of developing functional materials and devices for practical applications.
