Tomas Malina obtained his Master’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology in 2017 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in 2021, both at Palacký University in Olomouc. During his Ph.D. studies, he also completed an internship at Particles-Biology Interactions Lab, Empa, St. Gallen, Switzerland and collaborated successfully with Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno. In 2022, he joined the Molecular Toxicology Unit of prof. Bengt Fadeel at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden as a postdoctoral fellow, where he stayed for 16 months focusing on the nanotoxicology and immunotoxicology of advanced nanomaterials. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Materials-Envi Lab, VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava and Nanomaterials in Biomedicine group, CATRIN, Palacký University in Olomouc. His research is focused on nanosafety of novel nanomaterials (NMs) and how their different physico-chemical properties can influence their human and environmental toxicity.
